Whether you are driving on rain-drenched roads, or towing a trailer – the Sprinter’s rear-wheel drive ensures serene, effortless handling, which makes itself felt above all through reduced influences on the steering wheel.
And fully loaded on mountain roads, too, you can rely upon good traction. And that, with excellent handling characteristics in conjunction with a high level of ride comfort.
If you often have to work in difficult conditions, we recommend the optional all-wheel-drive system [1], which comes with the standard-fit ADAPTIVE ESP® and the Electronic Traction System 4ETS.
The all-wheel drive transfers the engine power in a 35:65 split between front and rear axle. There are no mechanical locking differentials, as 4MATIC uses the 4ETS Electronic Traction System. This automatically applies brake pressure to individual, spinning wheels, while simultaneously increasing the torque to wheels with adequate traction.
This results in better traction and handling stability in many situations: on ice, snow or wet leaves, on poor roads, in the wet or when towing a trailer.
[1] In selected variants available as optional extra. See the technical data on the individual model variants for which all-wheel drive is available.
