Virtually no other subject inspires us more than your safety. We passed our first outstanding safety milestone as early as the 1950s with the development of the passenger safety cell. Today it is one of numerous elements of an integrated Mercedes-Benz safety concept that moves us closer to our vision of accident-free driving.

The integrated safety concept classifies automobile safety according to four phases. In the "safe driving" phase, the vehicle helps the driver to identify critical situations promptly and handle them safely. In the second phase ("in the event of danger"), PRE-SAFE® can activate a number of preventive measures to pre-emptively reduce potential stress on the occupants should an accident follow. "In the event of an accident", occupants can be protected by comprehensive safety systems. "After the accident" a series of further measures facilitate the task of the rescue services, for example.
