The G-Class offers tried-and-tested technology based on 30 years of off-road experience so that you can power through tough terrain. Sophisticated solutions from Mercedes-Benz ensure that this model can continue driving even when only one wheel has grip. That’s because the three differential locks of the G-Class can be individually engaged in a logically determined sequence. As a result you can optimally adjust the vehicle’s handling to its environment. If a wheel loses traction, power will be distributed to the wheels with the best roadholding.

With just a few simple steps you get a roof over your head. The soft top opens and closes automatically with the touch of a button. When meeting the challenges off the beaten track, the driver of a G-Class Cabrio receives additional assistance from the transfer case’s off-road ratio - specified as standard. One press of the low-range switch is all it takes to activate this feature. The transfer case then switches from the on-road ratio to the off-road ratio, generating low speed and maximum traction, and a stunning gradient-climbing capability of up to 80 %. The permanent all-wheel drive, the 4ETS electronic traction system, the synchronised transfer case and the three 100 % differential locks, all work together in perfect harmony in the G-Class.

Thanks to rigid axles, long ... and a ground clearance of 22 cm the G-Class Cabriolet can barrel through practically any obstacle, including swamp and water ... up to a depth of 50 cm.

Regardless of the engine version you choose, there’s always something special under the bonnet of a G-Class. For example the G 500 has a powerful 5.50-litre V8 engine that is perfectly tuned to the needs of this versatile vehicle. With 385 kW at its disposal it masters even the toughest terrain.
As with the high-torque diesel engine the G 350 BlueTEC’s power is transferred to the road via the 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission. For the sake of environmental protection, a particulate filter is fitted as standard.
