The SLK delivers an incomparable feeling of open-top motoring and a real roadster feeling. The Vario roof made its global debut in an SLK. Operated electrohydraulically, it transforms the hardtop Coupé into a breathtaking Roadster. At the push of a button on the centre console or using an optional function for the remote car key, it opens and closes in a mere 22 seconds.

After closing, you can enjoy the comfort of a sound-insulated interior and the secure feeling of a fully fledged hard-top vehicle. And a generous boot capacity of around 300 litres means that you don’t have to compromise on stowage space. Plenty of room is also available when the roof is open. Sophisticated folding technology for the Vario roof ensures a stowage space of 208 litres.

When the roof is closed, the heat-insulating glass ensures a pleasant atmosphere and prevents the interior from getting too warm. When outside temperatures drop, the standard-specification heated rear window provides a clear view at the rear.

If things get a bit windy with the roof open, the optional fabric draught-stop is a practical solution (standard in conjunction with AIRSCARF). It can be slipped over the roll-over protection quickly and easily to significantly reduce irritating wind turbulence.

Want to drive with the top down even in colder conditions? No problem. AIRSCARF neck-level heating lets you extend the open-air season at the touch of a button. Outlets in the head restraints direct warm air upwards and blow a pleasantly warm stream of air onto your neck.

The SLK is available in four engine variants, all of which have something in common: They make every journey a "moving" experience. Featuring four, six or eight cylinders, all the engines delivers a thrilling driving experience thanks to agile response and outstanding dynamics – regardless of the time of year.

One key highlight is the SLK 350 sports engine with an impressive output of 224 kW. Its high-speed concept (up to 7200 rpm) is impressive at all engine speeds and it produces a rich and invigorating sound.
