Mercedes-Benz approaches the skill of driving from a holistic point of view. State-of-the-art active and passive safety systems need to be complemented by excellent driving skills in order to ensure better protection for drivers, passengers and pedestrians.
This is why an exclusive 3-day driving event was held at the Subic International Airport for Mercedes-Benz owners and enthusiasts. Peter Hackett, the official SLS AMG GT3 driver, was the chief driving instructor. With his guidance and his team of professional racecar drivers from the Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy including Paul Stephenson, Josh Hunt, Stephen White and James Brock, the participants were given the chance to drive Mercedes-Benz cars to its limits.
Despite the storm, the driving activities proceeded as planned. The extreme weather gave the participants a better opportunity to test the agility, safety and comfort features of the Mercedes-Benz lineup: from the New Generation C-Class and other sedans E-Class, S-Class, to the GLK-Class and M-Class SUVs. Topping off the experience was the chance to drive the latest and newly-introduced SLK and C-Class Coupe, and experience the thrilling drive in with the CLS 63 AMG.
Philippine Daily Inquirer columnist Botchi Santos wrote, “the driving experiences were meant to highlight Mercedes-Benz’s latest vehicle safety and stability control systems which not only increases safety but also improves overall dynamic handling and response under duress.” Santos added that “…hopefully this signals the start of an exciting period in the motoring industry as more and more car manufacturers plan their own driving events in the coming months.”
For those who missed this event, CATS Motors, Inc., General Distributor of Mercedes-Benz in the Philippines, might stage a second round especially with the very positive feedback and the valued support received from Arrow Shirts, fuel-provider Shell Philippines, and Singapore Airlines.
